Background
Ear-Acupuncture or Auricle Medicine does not originate from China, as one would imagine, but from the Middle East. In the 1950´s Dr. Paul Nogier found that some of his patients
from the Middle East showed evidence of tiny marks in their ears. He was told that in these countries it was a common form of treatment for sciatica. After years of experimental studies he learned that the `map´ of the human body was
reflected in miniature on the ear. He also discovered that if a patient suffered from certain complaints, particular points in the ear became sensitive to pressure. When his research was first published in
Shanghai in 1958, it became widely recognised throughout China. The Chinese started to use Ear-Acupuncture as an effective form of pain-relief/ Anaesthetic during and after operations. Today , Ear-Acupuncture is used when
operating on pregnant women or patients who are allergic to Anaesthetics. Ear-Acupuncture is also very helpful in treating a wide range of illnesses and complaints.

Diagnosis & Therapy in One
As with Iridology, topographic maps of the Ear reveal the location of the therapeutic
points for the body’s different organs. Via the nerve system, a pathological process in the affected part of the body will lead to a sensitive point in the ear. Through careful examination it is possible to detect
all sensitive points in the Ear and from their location one can diagnose which parts or organs of the body are affected. By treating the sensitive points in the Ear with Acupressure, Needles or Laser, a healing impulse will
be sent back to the affected organ. Whilst Ear-Acupuncture may not be able to diagnose in as much detail as Irodology, it can support the diagnosis from the eye and it can be used as an effective form of therapy.
